North Mission Road - Superman

Check out the show I was on on Court TV called "North Mission Road". This particular episode was about the death of George Reeves (Superman), and also the subject of the current movie "Hollywoodland" with Ben Affleck. I play William Bliss, the neighbor that discovers his body after his apparent suicide...

Demo Reel on Actor's Access...

My personal manager Sabrina had dinner with a gentleman who has been working at Breakdown Services for a long time. According to him, casting directors see actors on Actor's Access that have video on their profile first. So, I want ahead and tested the theory. I edited my too long eight minute demo reel down to five minutes, burned it onto a DVD, took it down to the Breakdown Services office (which, by the way, just happens to be less than a mile from my house), paid them $100 dollars to put my reel up online, and guess what??? It works!!!! For the past three weeks (and each week it's been landing on a Wednesday), I have had one audition for a major television show. The first week after I put my demo up it was "C.S.I. New York". The week after that it was "Sleeper Cell". Today, I am auditioning for the upcoming FX show with Courtney Cox called "Dirt", reading for the same casting directors (Fiorentino/Mangieri) as "C.S.I New York", "Cold Case", and "The Shield".

By God, putting the reel on Actor's Access is working!!! I don't even now if they actually watch the reel or not, but my profile just shows up first with the video attached to it. Not only am I getting these high profile auditions from my manager, I have been averaging about two more auditions from things I have submitted myself for as well. I had an audition yesterday for a FOX Atomic internet show, and right after my "Dirt" audition, I'm reading for an internet pilot as well, so things are really kicking now, and I'm loving it!! If anybody's out there reading this, say some prayers for me!!!

CSI New York...

Yes!!! Just put my demo reel online on Actor's Access last week, now I have an audition for CSI New York tomorrow!!! My manager had dinner with some guy from Breakdown Services, and he says the casting directors see the submissions with video attached to them first...I gotta believe that's true because I've never been called in for these casting directors before, even though I've been trying for years...they also cast my favorite show "The Shield"...

"Dog Bite Dog"

Something called Dog Bite Dog opened recently in Hong Kong. Early reviews are calling it the future of Asian cinema. It's rated their version of "X" for extreme violence. Check out the trailer, and tell me you don't want to see this NOW!!!

Callback For Zombie Nation...

Had an audition last Saturday for something called "Zombie Nation", and just scored a callback for it this upcoming Saturday the 12th...now, the beauty of this movie is the fact that it will be a month shoot in Los Angeles and...Catalina Island late September through late October!!! If anybody reads this before this Saturday, pray and pray hard, I need to get this role cuz it means a month off of work (I need a vacation badly) to do the thing that I love most ---- acting!!! Plus, it will mean that the last two features I've done back to back are zombie movies, which is also kind of cool...

Yesterday's Audition...

Had an audition for a Nicklelodeon movie called "Last Day Of Summer" yesterday that I feel went quite well. However, I was going up against some name actors...I saw Robert Rusler (Weird Science, Shag, Nightmare On Elm Street 2), who I know from my days at Blockbuster (I said a quick "hi" to him and reminded him who I was, he was coming in and I was leaving so I left it at that) and also Gabrielle Carteris (Beverly Hills, 90210) was there reading for my wife/mom role, so it looks like I'm moving up in the world (if you don't know who these actors are I put their pictures below)...the casting director was Harriet Greenspan, I read the part once and she said "Perfect". I overheard her talking to Gabrielle and she said they just tape all the auditions, then put it online for the producers to watch so it's now in the hands of the powers that be...wish me luck and pray for me if you do any praying...

Superman Sucks!!

Went to see Superman Wednesday night (in IMAX 3-D, nonetheless, where I paid $14.25 for my ticket), and boy, it sure did suck...nothing you haven't seen before, great actors that were wasted on this movie (in particular, Parker Posey, whose work I always enjoy, was just given nothing to do), hardly any great comic moments in this movie (no funny sidekick thugs for Lex Luthor), and the 3-D was not the whole way through the movie (there was a cue on screen for when to put the glasses on, and when to take them off), which was a pain because I kept changing from 3-D glasses back to prescription. After all the years of time spent trying to get this project in the air (pun intended), it was just a great big letdown...I think the studio squashed Brian Singer's creativity cuz I didn't see any of his trademark flair or humor in this movie...do yourself a favor, stay home and rent the original Superman instead...that's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!!!

Two Auditions Yesterday, And Booked One!!

I went on two auditions yesterday, and have already booked one of them, it shoots tomorrow...it's a video for Patrick Hall, some cat that was on American Idol (I don't know, I've only seen the show a couple times)...thus it is a parody of American Idol and guess who's playing the Simon Cowell role...yep, yours truly...wish me luck, I'll bring my trusty video camera and see what kind of footage and pics I can get to post on my blog!!!

L.A. Forensics...

If you watch closely you might catch me (small role) on "L.A. Forensics" tonight on Court TV at 8pm, and the episode will repeat again at midnight...I also did another series for this company called "North Mission Road" about the death of George Reeves (Superman, how timely is that???). I had a co-starring role in that...an actor friend of mine played the George Reeves role...more to come on that soon...

Oooohhhh!!! A Callback...

What a messed up business...I guess Tom Cruise took all the money I was supposed to get...am I a bitter actor???

Holy Shit!!!

I went and read for the role of Governor Bumgartner (see previous post) for a film called "Mannsfield 12" on Wednesday. Now, I didn't think I was even right for a governor to begin with. But after I read the script, it seems he, like my real self, is a little rough around the edges...fair enough...then, after thoroughly reading through the sides I was given, there lies another layer to this governor...he is a native of Germany with a touch of his motherland accent still...HOLY SHIT!!!!
So I practiced, and practiced...I can do a decent German accent, but had to take it down a few notches, as I believe this character speaks English well (he has to, he's the governor, right?), but just a bit of that German accent with him still. So I worked on it, and worked on it, and worked on it, and worked on it, and worked on it, and worked on it, and worked on it til I felt I was prepared...and I went to that audition, and I fuckin' kicked ass!!! I tore that audition up!!! Well, it's Friday now (albeit it's early still), and I still haven't heard back from them yet. Now I know that they may still be looking, but they start filming this thing on Monday the 19th!! The only problem that I can forsee getting this gig is that fact that I looked younger than most of the guys that were at the audition, as I was really smooth shaved (I shaved the night before), and got a haircut right before the audition (which knocks some years off too). I can't imagine anybody reading this part better than I did, but who knows?? Anything can happen in this biz...the important thing is I felt great about it, and it was one of the more memorable auditions I've had in awhile...in fact, I'm thinking about taking some acting classes with my old coach again, just to brush up (I'll probably never follow through)...ANYWAY, ANYBODY READING THIS, PRAY FOR ME, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO PLAY THIS ROLE!!!!!

Nothing too exciting...

Had an audition yesterday for a Credit PSA, one for a commercial on Friday (which I was terribly late to and the casting director was not too pleased), and this upcoming Wednesday for a feature playing the role of a governor...I would have been more suited for the prison warden, but what the hell...otherwise just work and messing around with my new editing software...

ADR at the Studios...

Tomorrow (Thursday), I'm going on down to and do some ADR for a movie I shot in 2004 called "The Last Bad Neighborhood" (see pic below). It is a comic book style movie where I play "Bishop", the leader of Dockland, a part of town that "The Shineys" (corporations) are trying to take over. Before that, I have an audition playing a detective in a short film for some project called "Women Of The DGA" which sounds pretty exciting and may be somewhat high profile...wish me luck!!!

Howl At The Moon!!!

Wow, went to a party last night at Howl At The Moon, a piano bar where you can do karaoke and play an instrument if you know how...my co-worker Joseph is going to be leaving the job for the summer to do his own show, and nobody showed up!!! What a disappointment!!! I did learn that Joe plays a mean piano and can sing though, and I sang "Splish Splash" by Bobby Darin, which was great fun...I still can't believe nobody showed up, though...

Cannon Go Boom!!!

I was taking pictures from my SD card in my video camera yesterday and transferring the pics to my new computer, I thought these pics were interesting...I came across this while I was driving on the 10 freeway one day a few months back, traffic was slow and I happened to have my trusty mini-dv/camera with me, so I just started clicking...looks like this cannon belongs to some museum display or something like that...

Nothing...

Wow, I really did nothing today (now yesterday)...for some reason I felt really cruddy and just ended up staying in bed most of the day...I didn't go take my Pai-Gow Poker test (see pic above), I blew off the audition I had (I am justifiable in this. I really took a look at the script, and found nothing challenging or exciting about it), and didn't leave my house all day. Ordered pizza from Pizza Hut and then slept some more. Then I woke back up around midnight...I think I was awoken (awakened, woken up??) by a troup of motorcycle riders going by (it sounded like a pack of about forty, I live on a really busy street). I tried to snatch my video camera and tape them going by, but missed it. Then onto my computer to mess around with my blog here, and got a notification for an audition on Saturday, for the role of a paranormal reseacher (no script, all improv). So I printed up a few articles on paranormal stuff (poltergeists, residual hauntings, portal hauntings, intelligent hauntings, etc.) and I am going to study that now...and damn it, I'm now wide awake!!! The good news is that I feel much better than I've felt all day. The bad news is I'll probably be up all night!! Naw, I'm gonna force myself to go back to bed...after I have some more pizza!!

Great News!!!

After I got back from Poquito Mas and Hollywood Video (I also got a Cappucino Blast from Baskin Robbins), I recieved and e-mail from the director of "Awaken The Dead" to inform me that I do not need to do ADR on our movie tomorrow (see my previous blog), our sound guy was able to clean up my lines and we can now keep all that great church echo. I was also told that Heidi Martinuzzi, a fairly famous horror and cult journalist will be attending our July 11th screening of the movie at the Ince Theatre at Culver Studios...this is all great news and makes my day much easier tomorrow (plus I save gas!!!). On the down side, no pictures from my ADR session, but I will have tons after our screenings of "Awaken The Dead" in July!!! Can't wait, it's gonna be a blast!!! (Pun intended)

An Uneventful Day

Well, I ended up sleeping most of today (til about 5pm), cuz I didn't get to bed til 9am. After I got off of work at 4am I did a little painting on the bedroom that my ex-roomate recently vacated, so after cleaning myself and my painting tools up it ended up being 9am. I got up and did a few acting submissions and studied a little bit of Pai-Gow Poker (which I will continue later this evening), and wrote out my rent check. I grabbed a shower and created this blog, and now I will go out and grab a bite to eat at Poquito Mas, then grab a movie at Hollywood Video
and mail my rent check out. Then back home to study Pai-Gow some more, maybe watch that video and try to go to bed early. I have a very busy day tomorrow. Out to Van Nuys at 10am to do some ADR on a zombie movie I was in called "Awaken The Dead" (see the picture above), then out to my work headquarters in Monterey Park to take my Pai-Gow test, then after that an audition in Hollywood, then back home and then maybe I will go see the X-Men movie after that...keep reading, I will have pics and info from my ADR session on a future blog...ooohhhh, all that driving, I better fill up my car with some gas...gee, I guess today wasn't so uneventful after all...
